U14G Fire Wins Division Championship at State Cup Tourney

The U14G Fire team capped off its very long and successful 2012-2013 season with a championship round victory at this year’s  NorCal State Cup Tournament. Competing in the Copper Cup division, this WCSC Bronze team defeated two Silver and one Gold level team during quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds to earn the top spot.
At the April 14 quarterfinal in Morgan Hill, Fire shut out long-time rival East Diablo Impact 2-0. In the Saturday, May 4 semifinal in Turlock, Fire faced a tough gold-level opponent – Bullard SC from Fresno; Fire was up 3-0 at half time off goals by Marissa Ducey and Jeni Cuneo, but then faced a second-half blitzkrieg in which Cuneo went out with a broken wrist.  A Bullard PK and goal quickly turned the score to 3-2, testing Fire’s defensive line which held tight and protected the win. Still Looking for 2013 House Coach Applicants

Last season we fielded over 160 recreational soccer teams in boys and girls age divisions U6 through U19. To do this, and to give as many kids as possible an opportunity to learn and play soccer, we depend upon our parents to step up and volunteer to help coach these teams.

To put it simply – we need you. The number of teams we have, and the number of players we can accept into the program, is dependent upon the number of coaches we have. If you have coached before, played before, or know little about the game but are willing to learn, try and help, coaching youth soccer here is a fun and rewarding experience. Creating Chances... through soccer

We’d like to draw your attention to an organization that is working hard and succeeding – through soccer -- to change the lives of boys and girls in struggling, underserved urban areas. Creating Chances, a program of the US Soccer Foundation, provides programs, play fields, coach mentors and equipment to enable kids to not only have safe places to play soccer, but in the process learn healthy lifestyles, stay out of trouble and do better in school. Take a minute to learn more about the amazing impact this organization is having, the tremendous need that remains unmet, and the opportunity you have, through a donation of any amount, to support their inspiring work.
