WHAT IS TOPSOCCER?
TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a volunteer-led program designed to provide a fun and meaningful experience for players with special needs, while also improving fitness, self-esteem and social skills in a safe and caring environment. Using a buddy system, players are paired with a volunteer youth partner. TOPSoccer also offers families the opportunity to network with other families for support and information sharing.
PLAYERS:
TOPSoccer is open to children with special needs ages 6-18. All abilities are welcome. A parent/guardian is required to attend with the player, no drop-offs allowed. Players are matched 1:1 with a volunteer youth buddy and are grouped by ability, not age.
YOUTH VOLUNTEERS:
Youth volunteer buddies (ages 13-17) are the heart and soul of TOPSoccer! No experience playing soccer or working with special needs children is required, just a friendly, positive attitude. However, buddies need to commit to attending a minimum of three sessions.
The 2025 Spring TOPSoccer session will be held at Tice Valley Park in Walnut Creek. Each session is approximately 1 hour in length, led by parent and youth volunteers who have a passion for our TOPSoccer athletes. We can't wait to help your child develop as a player.
