WCSC Picture Day 2014

Dear WCSC Families –

Please read carefully and be patient – we’re trying something new this year!

While we all cherish a great photo memory of our soccer players and their teammates, “picture day” can be a scheduling challenge for families, teams and coaches. Working with our friends and long-time supporters at Lifetouch, this year we’re going high-tech to make it more convenient for everyone.

2014 Free House Player Clinics

Walnut Creek Soccer Club house players -- don't miss this opportunity to sharpen your soccer skills and learn from our club's professional competitive coaching staff! Free Player and Goalkeeper Clinics are scheduled  on Fridays at Arbolado Park for age groups U6-U8, U9-U11 and U12-U19. Coaches -- bring out your teams!

2014 House Coaches -- Attend an Upcoming Coaching Clinic

Walnut Creek House Program Coaches,
This year’s House Coaching Clinics give you the opportunity to receive a training lesson plan, observe the lesson being presented by professional competitive coaches to their players, and then discuss and ask questions to help you improve your own training sessions.
These clinics are grouped by gender and age, and are offered at different times and dates in July and August to help you prepare for the coming season. Attend one, both or any clinic time that is convenient for you.
No need to register, just show-up! All House coaches are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to learn and improve your coaching skills.

GU14 WC Impact - Finalists at the Comstock Shootout

WCSC U14 G team Impact ended its Winter Select season run with a memorable weekend at the Carson City's (NV) Comstock shootout tournament.   Impact finished with the second highest number of points among 17 U14 G teams from California, Idaho and Nevada.  After defeating Davis, MtDiablo and Rush Azul (Idaho), WCSC's Impact lost in the final against Spanish Springs Aguilas, a Nevada U14 G Platinum Competitive team.  Impact fought very hard bringing home the Silver medal.  Impact did a wonderful job representing WCSC and our community by displaying a refreshing free flowing style of soccer and garnished many praises from referees and tournament officials for their fair play and respectful bench (parents and coaches).  WCSC's Impact was coached by Chris Conlon and John Hutchinson.  Kudos to all for a job well done!

From left to right: Kate Hutchinson, Claire Rees, McKenzie Cooke, Jaley Nielson, Kathy Conlon, Ify Mbeledogu, Aly Rajecki, Rylee Gartside,  Ranada Duffy, Sophia Genovese, Maura Freiermuth, Olivia Akli, Emma Smethurst, Sophie Kurland and Jacquie Trimble.

Winter Select 2013-14 Team Formation Update

The team selection process is now complete for the 2013-2014 Winter Select program and offers have been sent via email to all selected players. If a player declines to accept an offer, the next player in order on the ranked list will be called and offered their spot.
Congratulations to all selected players and thank you to everyone for your interest and great effort made at the tryouts.
If you have never been through a tryout process, it can be both tension-filled and confusing. The evaluation process isn’t always clear, and the selection process can create even more questions. We would like to take this opportunity to explain some of what goes on during this process; some of the limitations; and what we do to try to make this as fair as possible with the time and resources that we have available. You’ll find some information that we hope will be helpful in better understanding the evaluation process here on the WCSC web site:
We greatly appreciate everyone's interest in our program, and more importantly, we hope you continue to enjoy the great game of soccer and keep playing and improving your skills.
As we mentioned at tryouts, if you did not make a team, our Winter Development Academy, taught by our professional training staff, begins the week of December 9 for seven weeks and is a great way to work on your skills and play more soccer! Check it out here on the club website:

GU14 Rage - Champions at 2013 Walnut Tournament

U14G RageGU14 team The Rage won their division in the 2013 Walnut Tournament, defeating the Earthquakes 2-1 on November 10th after an exciting game. The two teams were evenly matched and delivered a spectacular finale on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. In the second half of the game, the Rage, coached by Chris Conlon and Eric Burk, scored the decisive go-ahead goal.
