WCSC Annual General Meeting - Nominations Open!

The Walnut Creek Soccer Club does not just run on its own, but relies on many volunteers to organize and oversee the myriad of activities throughout the year.  If you are interested in helping the Club from the inside,  this November, we will be holding elections for the Board of Directors.  Each elected position is for a two year term.  If you are interested in helping to improve the club, or want to nominate someone, please contact Gerald Turetzky.

AGMThe WCSC Annual General Meeting is scheduled for 7pm on Sunday, November 6th, Heather Farms Lakeside Room!  Plan on attending to keep informed on the state of the club, and vote for the open Board of Directors positions!

The following positions are up for election this year: 

If you want to help, but don't want to commit to a two year term of office, the following appointed positions are available: Field Maintenance Coordinator, Competitive Tournament Coordinator, Summerfest Assistant, Summerfest Jamboree Assistant, Octoberfest Assistant.

In order to ensure appropriate staff reporting responsibilities with the Walnut Creek Soccer Club, the board of directors is recommending changes to the bylaws regarding the reporting relationship of the registrar and assistant registrar.  These changes will be voted on during the November 6 Annual General Meeting.

Remove from Secretary

Shall oversee the work of the Club Registrars and provide regular reports to the Management Committee as to their assignments, costs, and performance. Shall prepare the contracts for each position each year, for approval by the Management Committee and Board of Directors.


Add to Competitive Programs Director

Shall oversee the work of the Club Registrar and provide regular reports to the Management Committee as to the assignments, costs, and performance. Shall prepare the contract for the position each year, for approval by the Management Committee and Board of Directors.


Add to House Programs Director

Shall oversee the work of the Assistant Club Registrar and provide regular reports to the Management Committee as to the assignments, costs, and performance. Shall prepare the contract for the position each year, for approval by the Management Committee and Board of Directors.

Elected Positions

President

An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors. Presides at all Board of Directors and Management Committee meetings.  Provides leadership and inspiration for the league and its program.  Is the primary spokesperson for the league in interactions with outside agencies, with responsibility deferred to the Competitive Programs Director and Operations Director in their respective areas, and shall be apprised by the respective Management Committee members of their workings with outside agencies. Presents a monthly report to the Management Committee.

Vice President

An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors. Presides at all Board of Directors and Management Committee meetings in the absence of the President.  Chairs the Rules, Nominating, and Grievance committees.

Secretary

An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors.  Prepares the agenda, and keeps records of all meeting proceedings (minutes). Handles Club correspondence.  Oversees the work of the Administrative Secretary, and the Club Registrars.

Treasurer

An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors. Responsible for overseeing the monetary assets of the league in a conservative and professional manner with the guidance of the Management Committee.  Oversees the work of the Competitive Treasurer to ensure Prepares an annual budget for approval by the Management Committee. Presents a monthly report to the Management Committee.

Competitive Programs Director

Has overall responsibility for the Competitive Program.  An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors.  Presides at all Competitive Committee meetings.  Works with the Director of Coaching on the selection of coaches & trainers. Assists the coordinators in the running of the competitive program.  Provides timely, professional and productive responses to all Competitive issues, grievances and reports. Presents a monthly report of activities to the Management Committee.

House Programs Director

Has overall responsibility for the House Program.  An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors.  Presides at all House Committee meetings.  Assists the age-group coordinators with the recruiting of coaches, and forming of teams.  Provides timely, professional and productive responses to all House issues, grievances and reports. Presents a monthly report of activities to the Management Committee.

Operations Director

Has overall responsibility for the Club's fields, coach equipment, and referee program.  An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors.  Works as the primary contact with external organizations with oversight of fields and field scheduling.  Provides timely, professional and productive responses to all field and referee issues, grievances and reports. Presents a monthly report of activities to the Management Committee.

Marketing Director

An elected, voting member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors. Has overall responsibility for the league newsletter, web site, publicity, branding, internal and  external communications, and community relations.  Oversees all branding issues related to the league, including logos, colors, and the use of the  league name.  Advises the Competitive and House Committees on all issues in this regard and ensure compliance with  league branding guidelines. Will appoint, with the approval of the Management Committee, individuals to assist with these duties. Presents a monthly report of activities to the Management Committee.

Competitive Treasurer

An elected, voting member of the Board of Directors. Responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the competitive teams in a conservative and professional manner with the guidance of the Competitive and Management Committees.  This includes review of the teams budgets, and  financials on a regular basis.

Competitive Coordinator (1 elected every 2 years - 2 appointed)

A voting member of the Competitive Committee (2 of the 4 Competitive Coordinators are also elected, voting members of the Board of Directors). Helps coordinate, and assists the competitive teams within their respective divisions, with the assistance of the other members of the Competitive Committee. Helps in the planning, promotion, and execution of all Competitive tryouts.  Helps in the execution of the appropriate division tournament. Assists coaches with determination of their playing league, to aid in submission of all paperwork to the appropriate district.  Verifies coaches licensing requirements are met.  Acts as a first line mediator and source of information for any issues in their competitive division, and escalates to the Competitive Committee, if appropriate.   Serves as the primary e-mail contact to/from their divisions coaches/team managers.

Tryouts: Assists in the planning, preparation and execution of all WCSC Competitive tryouts.
Tournaments: Assists in the planning, preparation and execution of their divisions WCSC tournament (Div 1: Summerfest, Div 3: Octoberfest)

House Winter Select Coordinator

An elected, voting member of the Board of Directors. Plans, and oversees the House Winter Select program with the assistance of the House committee. Works as the primary contact with external organizations with regards to the Winter Select program.  Works with the Director of Coaching to plan and execute tryouts.  Works with the registrar on the registration of players participating in the program.

House Age Group Coordinator (1 elected every 2 years - 7 appointed)

A voting member of the House Committee (2 of the 9 House Coordinators are also elected, voting members of the Board of Directors). Responsible for recruitment of coaches, player assignments and team formation for their age group. Acts as a first-line mediator and source of information as questions arise in their age group, and escalates issues to the House Committee if necessary.

Field Scheduling Coordinator

An elected, voting member of the Board of Directors. Develops an annual fields use plan for approval of the Board of Directors. Responsible for scheduling all games for fall, winter, and spring seasons, working closely with the House and Competitive Committees.

Appointed Positions

Field Maintenance Coordinator

Serves as an appointed officer to report to the Operations Director.  This person oversees the maintenance of the Club's fields, ensuring that all fields are safe for play and replaces worn or missing equipment as needed.  This may include working with the respective city and school agencies to rectify any field maintenance related issues.

Time Commitment: 0-10 hours per month, during the off-season. 0-10 hours per week during the Fall season (late July-mid November).

Competitive Tournament Coordinator

A voting member of the Competitive Committee.  Handles the pre-event organization and planning the three WCSC competitive tournaments - Summerfest Jamboree (early August), Summerfest (late August), and Octoberfest (end of October) .  This includes applications to host, working with Marketing to promote the event, working with the Field Scheduling Coordinator to secure fields, purchasing awards, working with the Field Maintenance Coordinator to coordinate the lining of the fields, and manage team application and registration process.

Tournaments: Assists in the planning, preparation and execution of the tournaments.  This position requires a significant amount of time in the two months leading up to the tournament season, but almost no time during the rest of the year.

Summerfest Assistant

Works with the Competitive Tournament Coordinator in the staffing, scheduling and execution of the Summerfest Tournament.  This person works with the Walnut Creek teams to handle all staffing issues for the tournament for:  field set-up, check-in, field marshals, referee refreshments, and field take-down.

Tournaments: Assists in the planning, preparation and execution of the tournament.  This position requires some time in preparation for the Summerfest Tournament, and to be accessible, and onsite the days of the tournament, at the tournament headquarters.
