Winter Select 2014-15 Season Coaching Application

Dear Walnut Creek Soccer Club House Coach –
As you head toward the final weeks of the season and the Walnut Tournament, is there a part of you that wishes it all didn’t have to end?
Our Winter Select program offers coaches and players an opportunity to extend their season, and work together with others who share a passion for the game and a desire to continue their skills development. You’ll work with one of our professional competitive trainers assigned to help you develop your team; you’ll coach players committed to the sport; you’ll travel locally playing teams from other nearby leagues; and, you’ll have a great time.
Right now we’re looking for a few coaches to work with our U9/10, U11/12 and U13/14 boys and girls Winter Select teams. Team training begins the first of December, and the season typically runs through the first week or two of March.

GU10 Chelsea – Champions at DFC Kick-or-Treat Classic

Twelve Dalmatians ran uncontrollably at the DFC’s Halloween tournament and ended up Dalmationsclaiming the top prize.  Chelsea exhibited high pressure defense and excellent combinations against equally strong teams throughout the weekend to reach the finals.  A championship game against a similarly named opponent, FCA Chelsea, remained tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.  But W

GU13 Infinity - Champions at Dublin Fall Classic

The Infinity played strong in the Dublin Tournament taking the winner's trophy.  On Saturday, Infinity dominated all day besting the Pleasanton Rage and the Livermore Fusion. On Sunday Infinity shut out North Marin gaining a spot in the finals against Ca Magic!  The final was a nail-biter with Magic up 0-1 at half time. However  Infinity played strong on the second half and won 3-1.

GU10 Chelsea - Finalists at the Dublin Fall Classic

Team Chelsea has reached the championship game in two consecutive tournaments which shows how well the team has developed under the coaching of Paula Campos.  The first two games of the tournament were thrilling to the very end as Chelsea scored winning goals at the last few seconds in regulation.  Defense also stepped up by not allowing a single goal until the championship loss against a strong North Marin team.  Great job Team Chelsea!
Special thanks to coaches Brian Bonilla, Josh Duffy and Sissi for helping Chelsea at the tournament.

Side-by-Side, WCSC "Olders" Bring Home the Hardware from Dublin Tourney

Playing in championship matches simultaneously on side-by-side fields beneath darkening afternoon skies, WCSC's "elder states-women" at the September 27-28 Dublin Fall Classic both brought home the hardware. The U15G Galaxy advanced to the championship round following two wins and a tie in preliminary rounds. In the final match Galaxy got off to an early advantage with the first goal, and nearly pulled ahead 2-0 on a PK attempt. However, the top ranked DFC 99G Blue surged back in the second half to capture the win.

On the field next door, the U16G Fury stormed on to the championship field following three shutout preliminary round wins. The team kept its perfect clean sheet for the tournament by defeating host team Dublin United Lightning 2-0 in Fury's first tournament victory of the season after placing second or third in every tourney this year. Congratulations to Coaches Vernon Kurpieski and Brian Bonilla, and all the Galaxy and Fury girls, on a great result!

U14B Earthquakes Claim Fall Classic Title

At this year's Fall Classic tournament, the U14B Earthquakes went undefeated (2-0-1) in preliminary round play, giving up just one goal in those three games, advancing to the championship match where they faced a tough Ballistic United team that had gone undefeated in qualifying rounds with a combined score of 21-0! The Earthquakes stood strong, fought hard and won the Sunday afternoon championship game 2-1! Congrats Quakes!
